ENTRY SERVER
This entry level server is best suited for applications that do not need any redundancy and do not need to store large amounts of data or have huge memory requirements. With a fast duo core CPU though this machine is still capable of delivering your static pages lightening fast. With no RAID and only a single disk, you will need to make sure you keep backups of your data.
STANDARD SERVER
This is the minimum server we would recommend for any kind of high availability web applications written with ColdFusion, Java, ASP.NET with a database back end.
With its faster FSB and quad core processor your applications should run within acceptible parameters and speeds. And with dual 160GB disks in Raid 1 you also have your hard disk fail over and redundancy.
PROFESSIONAL SERVER
It will be running high traffic sites, multiple web sites/applications or high level/high traffic enterprise applications and require the fastest throughput, processing power and delivery speeds then the Professional server should meet your minmal requirement.
With its big 8MB L2 Cache, fastest 1333 FSB, 2GB RAM and Quad core CPU you should not find yourself lacking in either speed or power. And with dual 160GB disks in Raid 1 you also have your hard disk fail over and redundancy.
Perfect for running multiple instances of ColdFusion Server in multi server mode.
PROFESSIONAL+ Server
For those real CPU intensive enterprise level applications that need real processing power this 2 x quad (8 core) machine will deliver with bells on. the new Intel quad cores allows you to use 1 server where periously a cluster of servers would have been required.
DATABASE SERVER
As the name suggests this server is best suited as a database server or combined application/database server. Because of the pair of Raid1 disks, the load can be distributed between 2 physical hard disk devices, which results in faster/better performance. You would install your RDBMS on disk 1 and store the datababases and log files on disk 2.
Or in an application/database server setup, you would run your web/application server + data on Disk 1, and your RDBMS + data on Disk 2 and if possible you can set your RDBMS and application server to use specific CPU's.
This server also somes with windows 2003 Standard which is required if you wish to install the full edition of Microsoft SQL Server.
DATABASE+ SERVER
As per the DB SERVER, but with 2 x quad CPU's (8 cores) for those instances where you need maximum processing power for enterprise level RDBMS applications.

*NOTE: it is down to the customer to be aware of the differences and limitations of the different versions of the windows operating system. For example certain other microsoft server procuts will not run on the Web Edition.
** Max memory limits are determined by the OS, the hardware is usually capable of up to16 GB RAM. Upgrading the OS will allow more memory. See the chart below for details.

With the HELM control panel you can fully automate and manage your dedicated or virtual servers. Through its intuitive user interface you and your clients can easily setup domains, mailboxes, databases, ftp accounts, do online billing and much more.
We offer two types of HELM configuration
REMOTE ONLY
We install a HELM remote license on your server, and through a specially configured reseller account, you use OUR control panel to manage YOUR server. Optionally you can also share some of our servers, you can for example use your own web server to host/manage Web Sites and FTP, and share our DNS/Mail and Database servers and only purchase additional resources from us as and when you need them.
If at a later date you decide to setup your own dedicated Mail or Database server, this can be added into your configuration and resources can be migrated from our server to yours.
HELM 3 only
HELM CONTROL
A full HELM control system. You host ALL services on your own servers and run your own HELM control panel with FULL admin access. You fully setup and configure the entire system yourself.

Monthly £29
per server |
| BASIC: |
| |
Your system behind a shared firewall. Only "friendly" ports
allowed through. All others blocked. Only "friendly" ports
allowed out. All others blocked. No firewall rule modifications allowed.
This is included as standard with all servers. |
|
| INTERMEDIATE: |
| |
As for basic except you can configure specific rules
for your server.
|
Monthly £25
Setup £50 |
| ADVANCED: |
| |
Your own firewall segment with custom configuration.
Sub cluster systems (e.g. SQL servers and other non
net accessed systems) available via private address
ranges.
All servers are placed on their own vLAN for added security. |
Monthly £40
Setup £50 |
| DEDICATED: |
| |
Your own dedicated Firewall Appliance and
routed subnet. Both NAT and IP pass through available.
Full remote Access for self configuration.
All servers are placed on their own vLAN for added security.
|
Monthly £79
Setup £50 |
If you require isolation from other customers and servers and with full control over rules, you will need the dedicated solution.
All additional requests for firewall changes are charged at £50 per time. |
We provide backup space on our dedicated backup
server with FTP or mapped network drive access, you can
then backup to this space as often as you like. We then
do daily offsite incremental backups and full weekly
backups of all data.
The client is responsible for actually backing up their data to their
space. |

node = server to be clustered.
- We use load balancers based on Summit 1i boxes from
Extreme Networks .
- These are located behind the firewall and have a
real address allocated for each cluster. Confusingly
this is often referred to as the “virtual” address
of the cluster.
- Each member of the cluster has a local, non-routable,
address on the LAN to which the requests to the virtual
address are sent using a complex algorithm. This takes
into account the requirement to spread the load, and
also to get fast responses. So it uses a combination
of “least busy” server and round robin.
- If a server becomes unavailable the cluster takes
it out of service and puts it on a slow poll till it
comes back, at which point it goes back in service.
- This is “level 3” load balancing since
it deals only with the distribution of IP requests.
There is no guarantee that the same server will get
requests from the same session, so the application
has to be “stateless”. In CF this is done
using client variables in an external data source shared
by all members of the cluster.
- We can do “level 7” LB, but this means
that if one element of the cluster goes out that all
sessions held on it also go. Level 3 is better.
- The database clustering is more a matter of application
design, but the simplest is to use journalizing between
two database servers and have one take over the IP
number of the data connection if the other fails. This
is standard for SQL server.
Optional configurations
are
Active-active (load balanced)
Active-passive (fail over)
